Young, UK-based and independent, we’re a commercial publisher with an indie heart.
Our hand-selected range encompasses everything from crime, romance and historical fiction to fantasy and dystopian thrillers. It’s a small list of carefully-chosen books by incredibly talented authors. The kind of books that deserve your attention.
But just because we’re small doesn’t mean we’re not making a splash. With Book of the Year accolades, dozens of five star reviews, TV and radio appearances, and features in broadsheet newspapers and national magazines, our books – and our authors – have had a big impact. In 2023 we won the Nick Robinson Best Newcomer award from the Independent Publisher’s Guild. And we’re just getting started.
The Moonflower difference
The day we were formed, we came up with the three Moonflower principles. Everything we’ve done since then – and everything we continue to do – is guided by them. Here’s a bit more about them.
1. Our authors come first.
Our authors are at the heart of what we do. It’s an easy thing to say, but what does it actually mean? Well, for us it means good communication. It means a fair deal on royalties. It means our whole team getting behind their work. And it means continuing to support them long after publication day. We’re nothing without our authors. We exist because of them, and for them.
2. We don’t do boxes.
Every day, a great book gets rejected by a publisher somewhere because the book doesn’t fit neatly into a box. Because it’s a crime novel with a fantasy twist. Or a romance, but set in space. Or because it’s just not immediately obvious who the audience is. Brilliant books that fall through the cracks because they can’t be neatly categorised. Those are our bag. That’s what we publish.
3. The book is everything.
What we do is simple. Find brilliant books and share them with the world. That’s all that counts. When we’re considering a book, we don’t care who the author is, what they’ve done before, or how many followers they have on social media. All we care about is if the book is a cracking good read. If it is, we’ll publish it. And then do everything we can to tell the world why it’s so great.
