Writing Spies in the
Shadow of Bond

FARNHAM LITERARY FESTIVAL

2nd March | 7:30pm Farnham Town Hall | £10

From the very beginning of fiction, writers have plundered the world of spies, but for decades one spy dominated them all. Now though, espionage fiction is changing. Spies aren’t superheroes deploying magical gadgets. They’re flawed humans, doing a difficult but necessary job the hard way. The four bestselling authors on this panel have written spies operating in every kind of setting – from the historical to a future dystopia. Join them to talk about the enduring lure of spy fiction – past, present and future.

With Ava Glass, Greg Mosse, Jack Jewers and Tim Glister.

Fearfully Good: Why We Can’t Get Enough of Gothic Fiction

FARNHAM LITERARY FESTIVAL

10th March | 7:00pm Farnham Town Hall | £10

Brooding, evocative tales, rich with atmosphere and with an unflinching taste for the macabre, Gothic fiction has been enthralling readers for nearly 300 years. But the loose term actually encompasses a wealth of genres, gathered together under its dark and stormy skies. From spooky tales of the supernatural, to contemporary noir crime fiction, the Gothic novel can be many things. But they all share one thing in common: a love for the dark side. We’re joined by four modern-day masters of Gothic fiction to discuss its irresistible appeal.

With Anna Mazzola, Essie Fox, William Hussey, Louise Davidson and Michelle Paver.
