Lori Ann Stephens on BBC Radio Sussex

Lori Ann Stephens’ novel Blue Running is set in a dystopia where Texas has seceded from the rest of the United States and has introduced increasingly draconian laws — including making abortion illegal. The recent overturning of Roe vs Wade brings this imagined alternate universe closer to reality, which is why Lori was recently interviewed by Sarah Gorrell on BBC Radio Sussex about the Supreme Court’s decision.

In the interview, Lori talks about how Donald Trump’s Presidential campaign inspired her to create the world of Blue Running, and how it has impacted her to see this step closer to the world she created. She also talks about how the ruling could impact on other rights currently held in the US, like same-sex marriage and contraception availability, and how it will disproportionately impact women of colour and from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds.
